Testimonials

"Dr. Rich Davis visited Hickman Elementary School March 7, 2007.  His program The Magic of Reading inspired the students, allowed them to participate and show off what they had already learned about Benjamin Franklin. All grade levels participated and proclaimed it a great success. They loved their scientific experiment. I asked first graders today over a month later if they could recall any facts about Ben Franklin while we walked out to the buses. They were proud to share what they remembered and were still calling facts out the window as the bus drove away. After Dr. Davis' program, the principal sent all teachers an email encouraging them to incorporate his methods to actively involve students in learning."  April 13, 2007 Blog on the School Library Journal Web Site

Hello Dr. Davis,  My children and I participated in your engaging school assembly program a few years ago.  You left such a lasting impression not only of who Benjamin Franklin was and what he accomplished, but linked it beautifully to the importance of reading.  We've moved and are now in a different school where I am the Cultural Arts Chairperson.  I naturally thought of you and your program as one that I definitely want to bring to our school.   I want to make sure that I schedule you first for next year!  Thank you for investing your life into making a difference in the lives of many children!  Joan Benson, Montgomery County, Maryland  August 19, 2008

We want to thank you for the wonderful program you presented to our kids. They thoroughly enjoyed their visit with Ben Franklin. We had many, many compliments on your presentation. I have to tell you that one little girl, after you left, asked us to tell you that you surely do look good for being over two hundred years old.   Aleta Relyea, West Ashley Library, Charleston, SC.

Dear Mr. Franklin,  Thank you for coming to Powdersville Elementary.  You taught me many things.  Like I did not know that Ben Franklin was the first person in the United States to have a bath tub or library.  I did not know that Ben Franklin worked at twelve years old with his brother James in a printing shop.  I thought it was cool that he printed newspapers, books, and even money! One thing that I found interesting was that Ben Franklin is on the $100 dollar bill!  Thanks again for coming.  Madison S.

Dear Mr. Franklin, Thank you for giving us your time to talk to us and to educate us, explore with us, and for being an  expert.  I learned that your favorite sport was swimming, that your favorite book was Pilgrims Progress, and your favorite hobby was reading.  Sincerely, Nicolas H.

Your performance and subject matter were superb.  Your reenactment of Benjamin Franklin really caught the attention of Yorktown students.  You were great.  The students were not only entertained, they actually learned something in the process.  In Prince George's Public System we have the theme “rigor.”  Your creativity in teaching and demonstrating history fell in line with what is expected in our instructional programs.  Dr. Davis, continue to keep up the good work of being creative in teaching our students history.  Dr. Sandra S.
