Program 1:  Ben Franklin:  Bigger than his Legend.  Length:  55 minutes.

Ben Franklin:  Bigger than his Legend

Come meet Benjamin Franklin and learn about his life, accomplishments, loves, and how he became one of the greatest Americans whoever lived.   You will learn why Franklin left Boston at age 17, how he saved a man’s life in an unusual way, and why it’s not likely Ben flew a kite in a thunderstorm.  Ask Ben to tell which sports hall of fame he was elected to in 1968.   In all, Ben Franklin has been enshrined in 14 halls of fame including chess, insurance, and CIA!

Ben talks about American history as he knew it, covering pretty much his own long, eventful lifespan:  1706-1790.  Ben tells about his life, loves, and accomplishments. He also discusses other great Americans and important events of his time.  Learn what famous American fired the first shots of the French and Indian War, and how Franklin managed the difficult but essential task of getting France to join the Revolutionary War on the side of the colonists.

"We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately."

a Electrical experiments, inventions  a Contributions to community and country

It is Dr. Davis' opinion, after years of careful thought and study on the matter, that Benjamin Franklin earns the title "The Greatest American Whoever Lived."  There is no question in Davis' mind on this point, but he cannot come right out and say "I am the greatest American whoever lived" while in the humble, mild-mannered character of Ben Franklin.  The crafty method Davis uses to make his point while remaining in character is a masterstroke of performing genius.
